چکیده

It is not clear how various wetting agent products affect moisture distribution throughout sand-based putting green rootzones. The objective of this research was to determine how localized dry spot (LDS) incidence, and soil moisture values and uniformity were affected by the application of five commercially available wetting agents. Wetting agents were applied during the 2008 growing season and evaluated under conditions of frequent, moderate, and infrequent irrigation application. All of the wetting agents tested in this study significantly reduced LDS formation compared to the untreated control. In addition, none of the wetting agents significantly increased soil moisture values during periods of frequent or moderate irrigation. All wetting agent products significantly increased soil moisture uniformity at a 3inch depth compared to the untreated turf. These results suggest that specific wetting agents can be used to manage LDS without adversely affecting rootzone moisture distribution.

ارزیابی نقش ویژگی‌های ریخت‌شناسی ریشه گیاه تریتیکاله (Triticale spp) در تولید دانه تحت شرایط کمبود آب

Plant roots, with respect to their intrinsic characteristics, have important role in both improvement and development of germplasms of drought resistant plants. This experiment was conducted to study direct and indirect effects of root morphological traits on grain yield of four triticale genotypes (three promising lines of ET-82-8, ET-82-15 and ET-79-17 along with the conventional Junillo-92...

Responses of root growth and distribution of maize to nitrogen application patterns under partial root-zone irrigation

A field experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of varying nitrogen (N) supply andirrigation methods on the root growth and distribution of maize (Zea mays L.) in Wuwei, northwest China in 2011 and 2012. The irrigation treatments included alternate furrow irrigation(AI), fixed furrow irrigation (FI) and conventional furrow irrigation (CI). The N supply treatmentsincluded alternate ...

Effects of Paclobutrazol and 24-Epibrassinolide on some morphological and biochemical characteristics of Salvia Officinalis under different irrigation regimes

Sage (Salvia officinalis L.) is cultivated worldwide especially in Mediterranean regions in which the leaves of this herb are widely used in pharmaceutical and food industries. Brassinolides and paclobutrazol are naturally occurring substances which modulate plant growth and development events and have been known to improve the crops tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. The effects of spra...
